2536 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar reported to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us; he said: my grandfather, Yaʿqūb ibn Shaybah, narrated to us; he said: Qabīṣah ibn ʿUqbah narrated to us; he said: ⦗1409⦘ Sufyān, from Abū al-Jaḥḥāf, from Muslim al-Baṭīn, who said:
[al-Baḥr al-Kāmil]
How can you—may you be fatherless!—rebuke a faction
That clings to slander yet disowns the Siddiq?
In witless arrogance they repudiate the Prophet’s minister—
Perish the one who turns away from the Faruq!
Despite the foes, I openly proclaim
My steadfast adherence to the creed of the Truthful, the Confirmed.
