2535 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān reported to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Bakrī narrated to us; he said: Zakariyyā ibn Yaḥyā ibn Khallād narrated to us; he said: al-Aṣmaʿī narrated to us; he said: Salamah ibn Bilāl, from Mujālid, from al-Shaʿbī, related that Ḥassān composed the following lines about the Prophet ﷺ, and about Abū Bakr and ʿUmar:

[al-Baḥr al-Munsariḥ]
Three rose to prominence by their merit—
Their Lord will grace them with radiance when they are raised.
No believer endowed with clear sight
Ever denies their pre-eminence when they are named.
They lived, the three of them, in perfect accord,
And in death were united when they were laid in their graves.
