2486 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us; he said: ʿAli ibn Harb narrated to us; he said: Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah narrated, from Ibn ʿAjlan—he said: I heard Saʿd ibn Ibrahim relating from Abu Salamah, from ʿAʾishah, who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “There were indeed muḥaddathūn (people granted inner divine inspiration) among the previous nations; and if anyone of that rank is found in my community, it is ʿUmar.”
