2474 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn al-ʿAbbas and ʿIsa ibn ʿAli both reported to us, saying: Abu al-Qasim ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAziz narrated to us; he said: Salih ibn Malik narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-ʿAziz ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Majishun related to me; he said: Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir told me, from Jabir ibn ʿAbd Allah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I saw in a dream that I had entered Paradise, where I came upon a white palace, and in its courtyard stood a young woman. I asked, ‘For whom is this palace?’ They replied, ‘For ʿUmar.’ I wished to enter and look at it, but then I remembered your sense of protective jealousy (ghayra), O ʿUmar.” ʿUmar said, “May my father and mother be ransoms for you, O Messenger of Allah! How could I ever feel jealousy toward you?”
Al-Bukhari recorded this ḥadīth through the chain of transmission of Hajjaj ibn al-Minhal.
