2466 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar, by written authorization, reported: “Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us; he said: Yaʿqūb narrated to us; he said: Abū al-Naḍr and Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān both narrated to us; they said: Muḥammad ibn Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif narrated to us, from Khalaf ibn Ḥawshab, from Sālim ibn Abī Ḥafṣah, who said:
‘I entered upon Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad while he was ill, and—as I understand—it was on my account that he declared: “O Allah, I love Abū Bakr and ʿUmar and pledge allegiance to them. O Allah, if I should hold—meaning anything contrary to this—then let me be deprived of Muḥammad’s intercession, peace and blessings be upon him, on the Day of Resurrection.”’
