2462 – Muḥammad ibn Rizq Allāh and ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad narrated, saying: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn ʿAlī told us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Ghālib told us; he said: Muḥammad ibn al-Ṣabbāḥ told us ⦗1379⦘; he said: Abū ʿAqīl—meaning Yaḥyā al-Ḥadhdhāʾ—told us, from Kathīr al-Nawwāʾ, who said:
I asked Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, “May Allah make me your ransom: Tell me about Abū Bakr and ʿUmar—did they deprive you of any part of your right or carry it off?”
He replied, “No, by the One who sent down al-Furqān (the Criterion) upon His servant so that he might be a warner to all peoples, they did not wrong us in the least with regard to our right.”
I said, “May Allah make me your ransom—then should I show loyalty to them?”
He said, “Woe to you! Show loyalty to them. May Allah curse al-Mughīra and Bayān, for the two of them lied about us, the People of the House.”
