2460 — ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb related to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Saʿdān related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh the Blind, known as Abū al-ʿAynāʾ Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim, related to us; he said: Yaʿqūb ibn Muḥammad al-Zuhrī related to us, from Ibn Abī Ḥāzim, from his father, who said:

It was said to ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥusayn, “What was the status of Abū Bakr and ʿUmar with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?”
He replied, “Exactly the status they hold today, lying beside him.”
