2448 – Ahmad b. ‘Umar b. Muhammad related to us; al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. al-Rabi‘ related to us; he said: Humayd b. al-Rabi‘ narrated to us; he said: Hushaym narrated to us; Husayn b. ‘Abd al-Rahman ⦗1370⦘, from ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Layla, who said: ‘Umar b. al-Khattab stated, “The best member of this community after its Prophet is Abu Bakr. Whoever says anything else is inventing a lie, and he will bear the penalty incurred by every fabricator.”
