Faḍālah said, “I heard al-Ḥasan swear by Allah that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—appointed Abū Bakr as his successor. He also said: I heard Muʿāwiyah b. Qurrah declare, ‘Indeed, the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—appointed Abū Bakr as his successor.’”}
