The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, “O ʿAmmār, Gabriel has just come to me, and I asked him, ‘Tell me about the virtues of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb in the heavens.’ He replied, ‘O Muḥammad, were I to recount to you Umar’s heavenly virtues, even if Noah had remained among his people for one thousand years save fifty, I would still not have finished enumerating Umar’s virtues. Indeed, ʿUmar is but one good deed among the good deeds of Abū Bakr.’”
