2413 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿUmar reported to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us; he said: Yaʿqūb ibn Shaybah narrated to us; he said: Muʿāwiyah ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq al-Fazārī, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever spends a pair—or two pairs—of his wealth”—I think he said, “in the cause of Allah”—“will be called by the custodians of Paradise: ‘O Muslim, here is pure goodness; come to it!’”
Abu Bakr remarked, “Such a man will never be in peril.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, “No wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Abu Bakr.” Abu Bakr began to weep and said, “And has Allah benefited me through anyone but you? Has Allah benefited me through anyone but you?”
