2409 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-ʿAbbās narrated to us; he said: Yaḥyā ibn Muḥammad ibn Saʿid narrated to us; he said: Yūsuf ibn Mūsā narrated to us; he said: Jarīr narrated to us, from Mughīrah, from Wāṣil, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Hudhayl, from Abū al-Ahwaṣ, who said: ʿAbd Allāh related from the Prophet ﷺ: “Had I been to take anyone from the people of the earth as an intimate friend (khalīl), I would certainly have taken Abū Bakr ibn Abī Quḥāfah as such a friend; but your companion is the Friend of Allah.” Muslim recorded this report.
