2389 – ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad narrated to us; he said: ʿUthman ibn Ahmad narrated to us; he said: Hanbal narrated to us; he said: ʿUthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Ghiyath, on the authority of al-Hajjaj ibn Artaʾah, from Talhah ibn Musarrif, reported: It used to be said, “Harboring hatred for Banu Hashim is hypocrisy, and harboring hatred for Abu Bakr and ʿUmar is hypocrisy; whoever entertains doubt about Abu Bakr is like one who doubts the Sunnah.”
