2380 – ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad related to us; Ahmad ibn Sulayman narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Asad narrated to us; he said: Abu ⦗1340⦘ al-Ahwas, from Mughira, from Shibak, from Ibrahim, reported:

“When word reached ʿAli ibn Abi Talib that ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Aswad was disparaging Abu Bakr and ʿUmar, he resolved to execute him. People said to him, ‘Will you kill a man who calls others to love you—Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet’s Household)?’ He replied, ‘He shall never live in the same house as I do, ever.’”
