2378 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Jaʿfar al-Bazzar related to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Ghailan narrated to us; Abu Jaʿfar Muhammad ibn Yazid al-Adami narrated to us; Sufyan ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from Khalaf ibn Hawshab, from Saʿid ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Abza, who said:

“I asked my father, ‘If a man who insults Abu Bakr—may Allah be pleased with him—were brought before you, what would you do?’ He replied, ‘I would strike off his neck.’ I then asked, ‘And if he insults ʿUmar?’ He said, ‘I would strike off his neck.’”
