2358 – Al-Qāsim ibn Jaʿfar informed us, saying: Muhammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥammād narrated to us; ʿAlī ibn Ḥarb narrated to us; Ibn Fuḍayl narrated to us; from Ibn Abī Ḥafṣah, who said: I asked Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī and Jaʿfar about Abū Bakr and ʿUmar. They both replied, “Show devotion to them and disown whoever is hostile to them, for the two of them were Imams of guidance.” He added: Jaʿfar also said, “Abū Bakr is my grandfather—would a man revile his own grandfather?”
