- Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUthmān related to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Jaʿfar related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad narrated to us; he said: my father narrated to us; he said: Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; he said: a man told us, from Mujāhid, from Abū ʿAbbās, who said ⦗1319⦘: “Do not insult the Companions of Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—for Allah has commanded that we ask forgiveness for them, even though He knew they would end up fighting one another.”
٢٣٣٩ - أنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ: أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَ: نا أَبِي قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا رَجُلٌ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ ⦗١٣١٩⦘: «لَا تَسُبُّوا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷿ قَدْ أَمَرَ بِالِاسْتِغْفَارِ لَهُمْ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُمْ سَيَقْتَتِلُونَ»
