2325 – ʿAli ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Yaʿqub informed us; he said: Ahmad ibn Abi Saʿdan al-Baghdadi, a resident of Rayy, narrated to us; he said: Abu al-ʿAynaʾ Muhammad ibn al-Qasim narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Khalid ibn ʿAthmah narrated to us, from Malik ibn Anas, who said: “The early generations used to teach their children to love Abu Bakr and ʿUmar just as they would teach them a surah from the Quran.”
