2320 – Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn al-Ḥajjāj informed us, saying: Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar al-Maqburī narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Isḥāq ibn Ṣāliḥ, Abū Bakr al-Wazzān, narrated to us; he said: Isḥāq ibn Kaʿb narrated to us; he said: Mūsā ibn ʿUmayr related, from al-Ḥakam, from ⦗1312⦘ Ibrāhīm, from Masrūq, from ʿAbd Allāh, who said:

“We used to hold that mentioning Abū Bakr and ʿUmar—or loving them—was part of the Sunnah.” (Mūsā ibn ʿUmayr was uncertain which of the two expressions had been used.)
