A presentation of the proofs drawn from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ establishing that the children of Adam are superior to the angels:

Allah, Exalted is He, says: “And when We said to the angels, ‘Prostrate before Adam,’ they all prostrated except for Iblīs; he refused, acted arrogantly, and became one of the disbelievers.” (Qur’an 2:34)

He, the Most High, also says: “Those who bear the Throne and those around it exalt their Lord with praise, believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for those who believe…” (Qur’an 40:7)

And He, the Most High, says: “The angels will enter upon them from every gate, ‘Peace be upon you for all that you patiently endured; how excellent is the final abode!’” (Qur’an 13:24)

This understanding was likewise transmitted among the Successors by ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz and Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb al-Quraẓī.
