2303 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawi narrated to us; he said: Dawud ibn Rushayd narrated to us; he said: al-Walid related, from Ibn Thawban, from Hassan ibn ʿAtiyyah, from Nafiʿ, that Ibn ʿUmar would join Ibn al-Zubayr in prayer whenever the prescribed time arrived, and on another occasion he prayed with al-Hajjaj when the time arrived. Ibn al-Zubayr asked him, “Are you with me?” He replied, “Neither for you nor against you.” Al-Hajjaj likewise asked, “Are you with me?” and he answered, “Neither for you nor against you.”
