2299 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed us; he said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAmr related to us; he said: Yūnus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us; he said: Ibn Wahb related to us; he said: Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us, from al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Ḥārith, from Makḥūl, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Jihad is obligatory under every leader, whether he is righteous or wicked; and the prayer is obligatory upon every Muslim, whether righteous or wicked—even if he is guilty of the gravest sins.”
