2298 – ʿUmar ibn Zakkār informed us; he said: al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl related to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn Muslim related to us; he said: Ibn Abī Fudayk related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUrwah narrated to me, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Prophet ﷺ said: “After me there will come governors. The righteous among them will deal with you according to their righteousness, and the wicked according to their wickedness. Listen to them and obey in everything that accords with the truth, and pray behind them. If they act well, the merit is theirs; if they act badly, the reward is yours while the sin rests upon them.”
