2290 – Muhammad ibn ʿUmar ibn Muhammad ibn Ḥumayd said: “Abū Haytham ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us; Abū Muṣʿab narrated to us, from Mālik—ḥāʾ.”
2291 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿUbayd Allah ibn Yaʿqūb said: “Muhammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayānī narrated to us; he said: al-Rabīʿ ibn Sulaymān narrated to me; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Wahb narrated to us; he said: Mālik informed us, from Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd al-Anṣārī; he said: ʿUbādah ibn al-Walīd ibn ʿUbādah informed me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said:
‘We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to listen and obey in hardship and in ease, ⦗1297⦘ in times of enthusiasm and reluctance; that we would not contest authority with those who possess it; and that we would speak—or uphold—the truth wherever we might be, fearing no one’s reproach.’
Al-Bukhārī recorded it through the transmission of Mālik, and Muslim recorded it through the transmission of ʿUbādah.
