2289 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated: “Yaḥyā ibn Muhammad ibn Ṣāʿid related to us; ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī related to us; Abū ʿĀṣim, from Ibn Jurayj….”
(Another chain:) ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Aḥmad and ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar both said: “Al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl related to us; Zayd ibn Akhzam related to us; Abū ʿĀṣim, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ziyād ibn Saʿd, from Ibn Shihāb, from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
‘Whoever obeys me has obeyed Allah, and whoever disobeys me has disobeyed Allah; whoever obeys the leader I appoint (amīr) has obeyed me, and whoever disobeys my leader has disobeyed me.’
The wording in both isnāds is identical. Muslim recorded it through the transmission of Ibn Jurayj, and al-Bukhārī and Muslim recorded it through the transmission of Yūnus from al-Zuhri.
