2283 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn Makhlad informed us; he said: Abū ʿAqīl Muhammad ibn Ismaʿil ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Habib ibn Abi Thābit narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Kunāsah narrated to us; Hishām ibn ʿUrwah narrated from his father, who said:

ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr was seated at the place of relief—either at the outlet or at the privy—when an elderly man with a long beard, a scowling face, and his front teeth bared approached and asked, “Have you ever seen anyone like me?” Ibn al-Zubayr struck him with his hand and retorted, “Have you ever seen anyone like me?”
