2280 – ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar informed us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Ḥātim said: Muḥammad ibn Naṣr narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Wahb narrated to us; he said: Muʿāwiyah related to me ⦗1292⦘, from Abū al-Zāhiriyyah, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The jinn are of three kinds: a third of them have wings with which they fly through the air, a third are serpents and dogs, and a third settle in places and move on.”
