2278 – Muhammad ibn ʿUthman narrated to us; Saʿid ibn Muhammad al-Hannat narrated to us; he said: Ishaq ibn Abi Israʾil narrated to us; he said: I heard Sufyan relate from Sulayman ibn Umayyah—a Thaqafi elder from the descendants of ʿUrwah ibn Masʿud—that he entered upon ʿAʾishah together with his mother and grandmother. While they were there, they heard a woman ask ʿAʾishah, “Is there any sin upon me if I muzzle (zumma) my camel?” ʿAʾishah replied, “No.” Someone said, “Mother of the Believers, she is referring to her husband.” ʿAʾishah then said, “Bring her back to me.” When the woman returned, ʿAʾishah declared, “A sorceress—yes, a sorceress—destined for the Fire! Wash away the trace of her visit with water and sidr (lote leaves).”
