Sequence of the reports establishing that magic has an actual reality:
Allah, Exalted is He, says: “But it was the devils who disbelieved, teaching people magic.” (Quran 2:102) ⦗1284⦘
He also says: “When the sorcerers arrived…” (Quran 10:80), and: “They produced tremendous magic.” (Quran 7:116) ⦗1285⦘
Furthermore, it is reported from ʿUmar, ʿUthman, Jundub, ʿAʾisha, and Ḥafṣa that they ordered the execution of the sorcerer.
سِيَاقُ مَا رُوِيَ فِي أَنَّ السِّحْرَ لَهُ حَقِيقَةٌ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷿: ﴿وَلَكِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَ﴾ [البقرة: ١٠٢]
⦗١٢٨٤⦘، وَقَالَ: ﴿فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ﴾ [يونس: ٨٠] ، وَقَالَ: ﴿وَجَاءُوا بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٍ﴾ [الأعراف: ١١٦]
⦗١٢٨٥⦘، وَعَنْ عُمَرَ، وَعُثْمَانَ، وَجُنْدُبٍ، وَعَائِشَةَ، وَحَفْصَةَ، أَنَّهُمْ أَمَرُوا بِقَتْلِ السَّاحِرِ
