2267 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yaʿqūb related to us; Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayyānī reported, saying: Abū al-Rabīʿ narrated to us; he said: Abū ʿAwanah, from ʿĀṣim, from Zirr, from ʿAbd Allāh, who said:

“The sun rises out of Hell; it comes up on a devil’s horn—or between the two horns of Satan. Each small distance it ascends in the sky causes yet another gate among the gates of the Fire to be smashed open for it, all of them. For that reason prayer was forbidden at the middle of the day and at the time the sun is rising.”
