2263 – ʿAli ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Yaʿqūb informed us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Ḥātim informed us; he said: It was read aloud to Yūnus ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā while I was present and listening, and he said: Ibn Wahb told us that Mālik had related to him from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from Fāṭimah bint al-Mundhir, from Asmāʾ bint Abī Bakr, who said:
“I came to ʿĀʾishah when the sun was in eclipse. The people were standing in prayer, and she too was standing. I asked, ‘What is happening to the people?’ She pointed with her hand toward the sky and said, ‘Subḥān Allah (Glory be to Allah).’ I said, ‘Is it a sign?’ She signaled, ‘Yes.’
“So I stood until dizziness overcame me, and I began pouring water over my head. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praised and extolled Allah and said, ‘There is nothing I had not already seen that I was not shown in this very place of mine—even Paradise and the Fire.’”
