2253 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Husayn informed us; Muhammad ibn ʿAli al-Sayyagh informed us; Ahmad ibn Hazim informed us; ʿUthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; Jarir narrated from al-Aʿmash, from Abu Salih, from Abu Saʿid, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Paradise and Hellfire disputed with one another. The Fire said, ‘Within me are the tyrants and the arrogant.’ Paradise said, ‘Within me are the weak among people and their poor.’ So Allah judged between them: ‘Paradise, you are My mercy—through you I will show mercy to whomever I will. Fire, you are My punishment—through you I punish whomever I will. Each of you is guaranteed its full quota.’” ⦗1264⦘
It was also recorded by Muslim through ʿUthman.
٢٢٥٣ - أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ: أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّايِغُ، قَالَ: أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: نا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: " احْتَجَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ، فَقَالَتِ النَّارُ: فِيَّ الْجَبَّارُونَ وَالْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ، وَقَالَتِ الْجَنَّةُ: فِيَّ ضُعَفَاءُ النَّاسِ وَمَسَاكِينُهُمْ " قَالَ: " فَقَضَى بَيْنَهُمَا: إِنَّكِ الْجَنَّةُ أَرْحَمُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ، وَإِنَّكِ النَّارُ عَذَابِي أُعَذِّبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَلِكِلَيْكُمَا عَلَيَّ مِلْؤُهَا " ⦗١٢٦٤⦘ أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ
