2242 – ʿĪsā ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad al-Baghawī narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Aʿlā ibn Ḥammād narrated to us; he said: Abū Dāwūd ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from Mūsā ibn ʿUqbah, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When one of you dies, his seat is shown to him morning and evening: if he belongs to the people of Paradise, then he is shown that he is among the people of Paradise; and if he belongs to the people of the Fire, then he is shown that he is among the people of the Fire—until Allah resurrects him on the Day of Resurrection. It is said to him, ‘This is your seat,’ meaning: this continues until Allah raises you on the Day of Resurrection.”
