2226 – ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl informed us; he said: Yaʿqūb al-Dawraqī narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; he said: Ibn al-Mubārak narrated to us—

2227 – And I (Aḥmad ibn ʿUbayd) [say]: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Mubashshir narrated to us; he said: Aḥmad ibn Sinān narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Sinān—who used to live in Basra—narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubārak related to me, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir, who said: Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir narrated to me; he said: al-Miqdād, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told me:

“I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘When the Day of Resurrection comes, the sun will be brought near to the servants, a mile or two away.’” Sulaym ⦗1254⦘ remarked, “I am not sure whether the two miles refers to an earthly mile or to the mil with which kohl is applied to the eye.” He continued, “The sun will then cause them to melt; people’s sweat will rise in proportion to their deeds: some will have sweat only up to their heels, others up to their knees, others up to their waists, and some will be bridled by their sweat.” Muslim recorded it.
