2179 – Muḥammad ibn Abī Bakr reported: Muḥammad ibn Makhlad narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Manṣūr narrated to us; Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to us; ʿAbdah narrated to us, from Hishām, from his father, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Prophet ﷺ stood over the well of Badr and said, “Have you found what your Lord promised you to be true?” He then added, “They can now hear what I am saying.”

I mentioned this to ʿĀʾisha, and she said, “Did not Ibn ʿUmar merely state, ‘They now know that what I used to tell them is the truth’?”

This narration was recorded by al-Bukhārī through ʿUthmān from ʿAbdah, and by Muslim through the chain of Hishām.
