2176 – ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar related to us; Ismāʿīl related to us; ʿAbbās ibn Muḥammad narrated; he said: Sufyān ibn Wakīʿ ibn al-Jarrāḥ, from Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth, from Mujālid, from ⦗1228⦘ al-Shaʿbī, said: “The Anṣār used to consider it commendable for a surah of the Quran to be recited beside the deceased.”
