207—Ahmad ibn Ubayd informed us. He said: Ali ibn Abd Allah ibn Mubashshir informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us. He said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us. He said: Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Shuqayq, who said: I heard Sahl ibn Hunayf say at Siffin: “O people, be suspicious of your own judgment. By Allah, I remember the Day of Abu Jandal: had I been able to reject any command of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, I would have rejected it. By Allah, whenever we shouldered our swords for a matter, they led us easily to a course we recognized—except in this affair of yours.” Al-Bukhari recorded it.
