2169 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥusayn reported to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Qāsim conveyed to us; Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to us; Ismāʿīl ibn al-Khalīl narrated; ʿAlī ibn Mushir related, saying: Hishām narrated from his father, from ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her):

A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “Messenger of Allah, my mother’s soul was taken suddenly, and I think that had she been able to speak she would have given charity. Will she receive a reward if I give charity on her behalf?” He replied, “Yes.”

Both al-Bukhārī and Muslim recorded this hadith on the authority of Hishām.
