2168 – Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Salmān reported to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn Ismāʿīl conveyed to us; Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; Rūḥ ibn ʿUbāda narrated; Zakariyyā ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAmr ibn Dīnār told me, from ʿIkrima, from Ibn ʿAbbās ⦗1225⦘ (may Allah be pleased with him):
A man said, “Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away. Will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?” He replied, “Yes.” The man added, “I own a date-palm orchard, and I call you to witness that I have given it in charity on her behalf.”
Al-Bukhārī also recorded this ḥadīth through the narration of Rūḥ.
