2130 – Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-ʿAbbās related to us; he said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad related to us; he said: Dāwūd ibn Rushayd narrated to us; he said: Marwān al-Fazārī narrated to us; he said: Ḥumayd, from Anas—
2131 – And Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd told us; he said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Wakīl related to us; he said: ʿAmr ibn ʿAlī narrated to us; he said: Muʿtamir narrated to us; he said: Ḥumayd, from Thābit, from Anas—or, he said, “I heard it from Anas”—that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard a sound coming from a grave within the walls of the Banū al-Najjār. He inquired about it and was told, “He was buried during the pre-Islamic Age of Ignorance.” The Prophet found that remarkable and said, “Were it not that you would stop burying one another, I would have asked Allah to let you hear the punishment of the grave.”
