2123 – Kūhī b. al-Ḥasan narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad b. Hārūn al-Ḥaḍramī ⦗1201⦘ narrated to us; he said: Isḥāq b. Abī Isrāʾīl narrated to us; he said: Hishām b. Yūsuf narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah b. Baḥīr told me that he heard Hāniʾ, the freedman of ʿUthmān, relate from ʿUthmān who said: Whenever the Prophet ﷺ completed the burial of a person, he would stand by the graveside and say, “Seek forgiveness for your brother and ask Allah to grant him firmness, for he is now being questioned.” It was also recorded by Abū Dāwūd and al-Sājī.
