2117 – Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Baghawī narrated, saying: “Muhammad ibn Sulayman informed us,” adding: “ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus related to us, from Zakariyyā, from ʿAṭiyyah, from Abū Saʿīd, that the Prophet ﷺ ….” Ḥ (the continuation follows through the next chain).
2118 – Muhammad ibn ʿUthmān ibn Muhammad related to us; he said: “Al-Husayn ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us,” saying: “Saʿīd ibn Bahr al-Qarāṭīsī narrated to us,” saying: “Al-Walīd ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us,” saying: “Zakariyyā ibn Abī Zāʾidah told me; ʿAṭiyyah related from Abū Saʿīd, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said:
‘Indeed, I have a Pond whose length equals the distance from the Kaʿbah to Bayt al-Maqdis; it is whiter than milk.’
In the recension of ʿĪsā ibn Yūnus the wording is:
‘—even brighter than milk; its vessels are as numerous as the stars. Every Prophet will summon his nation, and each Prophet will have a Pond. Some Prophets will be approached by large multitudes, others by sizable groups, others by only a few individuals; some will be met by two men—or a single man—while some will have no one come to them. It will then be said, “You did convey the message.” As for me, I will have the greatest following of all the Prophets on the Day of Resurrection.’
(The wording of the two transmissions is almost identical.)
