Hudhayfah—Shuʿbah said: on one occasion he traced it directly back to the Prophet ﷺ—who said: “A people will be brought out of the Fire, after the Fire has scorched them, through the intercession of those who intercede. Allah will then admit them into Paradise, and they will be called ‘the Jahannamites.’”
٢٠٨٠ - أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: نا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُبَشِّرٍ، قَالَ: نا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: رَفَعَهُ مَرَّةً إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: «يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ مِنَ النَّارِ قَدْ مَحَشَتْهُمُ النَّارُ بِشَفَاعَةِ الشَّافِعِينَ، فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ، فَيُسَمِّيهِمُ الْجَهَنَّمِيِّينَ»
