2025 — Muḥammad ibn Rizq Allah informed us; Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Ziyād, the Qur’an-reciter, related; he said: Khalaf ibn Shams, the reciter posted by the River ʿĪsā, narrated to us; he said: Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd al-Jawharī, from Abū Isḥāq al-Jurashī, from al-Awzāʿī, from al-Qāsim ibn Mukhaimarah, who said:

“Abū Qilābah al-Jarmī had a nephew who plunged into the forbidden. When the young man reached the throes of death, two white birds, resembling eagles, came and perched in a skylight of the house. One bird said to the other, ‘Go down and examine him.’ The bird descended and plunged its beak deep into his body while Abū Qilābah looked on. Then it said to its companion, ‘Allah is Most Great! Come down to him, for I have found inside him a takbīrah—the proclamation “Allahu Akbar”—that he once uttered in the path of Allah on the ramparts of Antioch.’

The bird then produced a white cloth, wrapped the youth’s face in it, and the two birds carried it away. They said, ‘Abū Qilābah, rise and bury your nephew, for he is one of the people of Paradise.’

Abū Qilābah enjoyed a good reputation among the people. He went out and informed them of what he had seen, and I have never witnessed a funeral attended by more people than that one.”
