2020 — Al-Hasan ibn ʿUthmān informed us; Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah informed us; he said: Muhammad ibn … narrated to us; he said: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated; he said: al-ʿAwwām ibn Hawshab, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Abū Wāʾil, reported that ʿAmr ibn Shurahbīl Abū Maysarah—one of the eminent companions of ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd—said:

“I saw as though I had entered Paradise and there were lofty pavilions set up. I asked, ‘For whom are these pavilions?’ They answered, ‘For Dhu al-Miklaʿ and Hawshab; both of them fought on Muʿāwiya’s side.’ I then asked, ‘Where are ʿAmmār and his companions?’ They said, ‘Right in front of you.’ I asked, ‘Even though they killed one another?’ It was said, ‘They met Allah and found Him vast in forgiveness.’ I asked, ‘So what became of the People of the River?’ It was said, ‘They met Him with hope.’ ⦗1150⦘

Yazīd ibn Hārūn added, ‘Dhu al-Miklaʿ emancipated twelve thousand households.’
