188—Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Yaʿqub informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Harun informed us. He said: ʿAmr ibn ʿAli narrated to us. He said: Wakiʿ narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash.

189—And Muhammad ibn ʿUthman informed us. He said: Muhammad ibn Nuh narrated to us. ⦗134⦘ He said: ʿAmr ibn Harun ibn Ishaq narrated to us. He said: Wakiʿ narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Ibrahim al-Taymi, from his father, who said:

ʿAli addressed us and said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Medina”—meaning, its sacred precinct—“extends between ʿAyr and Thawr. Whoever introduces an innovation therein or gives refuge to one who does so, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people. On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will accept from him neither obligatory nor voluntary worship.”
