1968 – Jaʿfar ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yaʿqūb narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Hārūn al-Ruwayyānī narrated to us; he said: Abū Kurayb narrated to us; he said: Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Sūqah, from Abū Bakr ibn Ḥafṣ, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said:

“A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I have committed a great sin; is there any repentance for me?’ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, ‘Do you have a mother?’ He replied, ‘No.’ He ﷺ then asked, ‘Do you have a maternal aunt?’ He answered, ‘Yes.’ He ﷺ said, ‘Then show dutifulness to her.’”
