Compilation of the reports affirming that a person who kills deliberately may still repent, together with an explanation of the Almighty’s words: “Whoever kills a believer intentionally—his recompense is Hell, to abide therein forever” (al-Nisaʾ 4:93), and that this ruling is abrogated by His statement, “Indeed, Allah does not forgive that partners be associated with Him” (al-Nisaʾ 4:48). This interpretation is transmitted from ʿUmar, Ibn ʿUmar, ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAs ⦗1123⦘, and—according to one of the two reports—from Ibn ʿAbbas; among the Successors it is held by Mujahid, Saʿid ibn Jubayr, ʿIkrimah, and Abu Mijlaz Lahik ibn Humayd.
