1946 – Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Fārisi related to us; Ahmad ibn Saʿīd al-Thaqafī likewise; he said: Muhammad ibn Yaḥyā narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; he said: Maʿmar narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, who said: Saʿīd ibn al-Musayyib, ʿUrwah ibn al-Zubayr, ʿAlqamah ibn Waqāṣ al-Laythī, and ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Masʿūd informed me about the report of ʿĀʾishah, the Prophet’s wife, when the people of the slander said what they said and Allah declared her innocent—that the Prophet ﷺ said, “If you have committed a sin, then ask Allah’s forgiveness and repent to Him; for when a servant acknowledges his sin and then repents, Allah accepts his repentance.” Muslim recorded it through this chain.
