179—Al-Kuhi ibn al-Hasan informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn al-Qasim ibn Nasr informed us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn Hammad Sajjadah narrated to us. He said: Ismaʿil ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind.

180—And ʿUbayd Allah ibn Ahmad informed us. He said: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Fadl al-Hashimi informed us. He said: Al-Hasan ibn ʿArafah narrated to us. He said: Ibn ʿUlayyah narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather: A group of people were sitting at the door of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and some of them said, “Did Allah not say such-and-such?” The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, heard them and came out, his face as red as though pomegranate seeds had burst upon it. He said: “Is this what you were commanded to do, or is this what I was sent with: that you should set one part of the Quran against another? The nations before you were only destroyed by the likes of this. So attend to what you have been commanded and act upon it, and attend to what you have been forbidden and desist from it.”
